I decided to design one for a health campaign which discourage anorexia(an eating disorder/unhealthy diet obsession). My target audiences are mainly the younger generation of females who are the main group of people who are anorexic.
Considering that my target audiences are young female ladies, i decided not to use a realistic photo which shows how anorexic people look like.
like such photos:
Reasons being, im afraid that such photos will turn them off, and disgust them, distracting them from the message that im trying to bring across. At the same time, I didn't want to offend any other people who might be suffering from other diseases which resulted in their drastic weight loss. In addition, im sure anorexic people do know how they look like themselves! thus, there isnt a point to show them or tell them what they alrdy know.
Therefore, i decided to use a cartoon drawing to convey my message instead.
Firstly, the cute representation will show be able to capture the attention of my target audience.
Secondly, the drawing has a pun intended when a skeleton was used to represent anorexic people, at the same time, it goes in line with the message: "You'll be dead before you are thin enough."
It shows the consequences of such an unhealthy eating obsession, at the same time, it reminds them that anorexia actually isn't pretty, at all.
Here's my thumbnails and drafts!
After the tutorial class, the feedbacks i got from my classmates and julian was to shift the text downwards, since the image captures people attention first. By doing so, the flow of information will be easier and more understandable for my audience.
However, I'm afraid that by clustering the text together, audiences might lose focus on the main points. Thus, julian suggested varying the font size, so that people can tell clearly which is the heading and the main message of the poster. (:
I'll edit and play around with the text layout and see which one looks more coherent and pleasing to the eye.
Till then, feel free to leave anymore comments for me to improve my poster!
